Castle Burke Man Arrested On Illegal Gun Possession Charge

FREDERIKSTED – A 25-year-old Estate Castle Burke man was arrested late Saturday night on an illegal weapons possession charge, according to police.

William Libert was arrested at 11:35 p.m. on July 18 and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, police said.

According to the police report, Libert had been in a vehicle parked in the public parking lot of the Candido Guadelupe Terrace in Estate Slob at mid-island when approached by officers.

A bag of marijuana was observed in the front passenger seat, in plain view of the officers, and after a further inspection of the vehicle, a handgun was discovered also, police said.

Bail for Libert was set at $25,000.00 and unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections, pending an Advice of Rights hearing.

The Virgin Islands Housing Authority (VIHA) manages the Candido Guadelupe Terrace in Estate Slob. The VIHA is headed by Executive Director Robert Graham.
