POLICE REPORT: Sherita Maxine Carty Drowns At Magen’s Bay Beach

CHARLOTTE AMALIE —  A 25-year-old St. Thomas woman reportedly drowned at Magen’s Bay beach on Thursday afternoon, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).

On Thursday September 8, 2016 at about 5:07 p.m., Police Officers were dispatched by the 911 emergency call centers to Magen’s Bay beach in reference to a woman drowning.

Upon arrival, bystanders stated that a woman was snorkeling and was found out at sea floating face down.

A lifeguard on the scene as well as bystanders performed numerous rounds of chest compressions before EMT and Rescue Personnel arrived on the scene but they were unsuccessful.

The woman was transported by ambulance to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where they continued numerous attempts of CPR but the Victim 25-year-old Sherita Maxine Carty was lifeless and pronounced dead by medical staff.

    That is soo sad,becareful people when you either diving or simply snorkeling and it’s always best to have someone there close enough just in case of an accident,help can be more swift and effective!?

      I always take a blow up vest or a noodle when I snorkel u can get in a strong currant or cramp or anything can happen even if u are a strong swimmer this is so sad a beautiful young lady just starting her life

    I had the pleasure of having her as my daughter while she lived in Texas she became apart of my family I cannot believe my daughter is gone but I know for sure god has a beautiful angel by his side in heaven and now she can watch over her son and everyone RIP my love momma Neko
