VIPD: Drive-By Shooting By Masked Men Injures Three Near Smith Bay

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — On Sunday, February 5, 2017 at approximately 4:11 p.m. the 911 Emergency Call Center was notified of shots being fired in the vicinity Smith Bay, police said.

Shortly after the report was made, three men arrived at the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center Emergency Room with gunshot wounds about their bodies, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).

The three victims were transported by private vehicle. Contact was made with one of the males who stated that while they were sitting on the corner in the area of the old Romanos Restaurant, a gray-colored vehicle drove by and masked men of same began firing shots towards them.

The other two male individuals did not give any information on this shooting.  The three men sustained several gunshot wounds about their bodies and were treated for their injuries.

The case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau, police said.
