VIPD: St. Thomas’ Shawn Tyson Charged With Second-Degree Rape

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police said that a St. Thomas man was arrested today for a rape took place about one month ago.

Shawn Tyson, 30,  was placed under arrest today about 9:30 a.m. after a woman identified him as the person who sexually assaulted her on January 29, 2017, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said.

Tyson is charged with second-degree rape, according to the VIPD.

Unable to post $50,000.00 bail, Tyson was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections (BOC).

He is scheduled for an Advice of Rights hearing in Virgin Islands Superior Court tomorrow.

    He lives on St. Thomas where the alleged rape happened.
