Five Shootings In Five Days On St. Thomas … The Latest A Man Shot Near Nisky Center This Morning

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The shooting spree in St. Thomas continued for the fifth time in five days when a man was shot near Nisky Center this morning.

On May 18, 2017 at approximately 10:00 a.m., citizens called the 911 Emergency Call Center reporting that a vehicle fired several shots in the area of Nisky Center, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said.

Several other citizens called immediately after and reported that there was a gunshot victim at the shopping center.

When police arrived on the scene they found a black male who appeared to have sustained injuries due to the incident, according to the VIPD. At that time he was being transported via ambulance to the Roy Schneider Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for medical attention.

They later traveled to the hospital and made contact with the man who had suffered a gunshot wound to his left side. The man was treated and later released.

The case is under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau — and all possible leads are being followed, police said.

Anyone having any information about these crimes is asked to please contact the VIPD at (340) 774-2211 or Criminal Investigation Bureau (340) 714-9801. You can also contact the anonymous tipline Crimestoppers  USVI at 1-(800) 222-8477 or 911. The tip you provide can help bring justice to those who are victims of senseless crimes.
