VIPD: St. Thomas’ Alldix Callwood Shot To Death While Working On His Truck In Smith Bay Today
TWO FATAL SHOOTINGS IN TWO DAYS IN ROCK CITY: Police Commissioner Delroy Richards Sr. said that his VIPD is diligently investigating the two homicides that have occurred in the last two days on St. Thomas.
CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A man was gunned down in his truck on the side of Smith Bay Road this afternoon, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said..
The slain man was identified as Alldix Callwood, 35, according to a news release from VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte.
It is the second murder reported in two days on St. Thomas, there have been three shootings in three day — two resulting in deaths.
On May 16, 2017 at 1:13 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call in reference to shots being fired in the Smith Bay area, the prepared statement said.
When police arrived on the scene they found a lifeless man in a truck who was later identified as Callwood, according to the VIPD.
Eyewitnesses said that Callwood was working on his truck at the side of Smith Bay Road when he was shot to death.
The Emergency Technicians arrived on the scene and pronounced Callwood dead; next of kin identified the body.
The incident is under active investigation by the Major Crime Unit, police said.
