CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The lifeless body of a young man was found inside an Oswald Harris Court building after gunhots rang out Wednesday afternoon, according to unofficial police reports.

Jahbari Joseph, 22, of Bovoni was the person authorities found after gunfire was heard about about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police units from the Richard N. Callwood Command responded and from the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) went to the housing project but nothing could be done to save the man soon after the incident.

Authorities found an unresponsive Joseph lying on the ground with blood on his clothes.

Joseph was examined by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) but they found no vital signs when they arrived.

The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said that two people are “persons of interest” in the case.

The VIPD detained those two people, who were not identified and also recovered a firearm.
