Victor Gonzalez Extradited To St. Thomas To Face Charges in February Shooting-Robbery

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man wanted in connection with a robbery-shooting was returned to the territory from Florida to face charges.

Victor Jesus Gonzalez, 20, is charged with first-degree robbery among other charges, authorities said. Gonzalez was taken into custody in Florida based on an arrest warrant.

On Monday, February 12, 2018, at about 5:26 p.m. a call came in to Central Dispatch regarding a male being shot in the GERS parking lot.

At that time Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD)detectives traveled to the Schneider Regional Medical Center about a male with a gunshot wound to his lower body.

An investigation revealed that the victim was in the GERS parking lot, when a man, later identified as Gonzalez, robbed him. As the victim tried to escape from the suspect he was shot in lower body.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to lower body and was later taken into surgery for further treatment.

On Friday,  Gonzalez was extradited back to the Virgin Islands. Bail was set at $100,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice of rights hearing.
