POLICE: St. Thomas’ Shamauri Camsel Allegedly Takes Woman’s Car For Joyride, Ditches Car

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was arrested after police said he took a woman’s car and ditched in the Red Hook area after a joy ride.

Shamauri A. Camsel, 23, was arrested about 11:40 a.m. on Friday and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The woman called the 911 Emergency Call Center about 9:46 p.m. on Tuesday and reported that her vehicle had been stolen from her house in Contant.

Police investigated and later discovered the vehicle in the Red Hook area and the suspect was identified as Camsel, according to the VIPD.

Camsel was processed, posted bail, and was released pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
