VIWMA: LBJ Pumping Station Is Off-Line Due To Mechanical-Electrical Failure

CHRISTIANSTED — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) said that on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 9:53 a.m., the LBJ Pump Station went off-line due to mechanical and electrical failure.

The VIWMA contract partners and staff “are working to place a spare pump into service,” the Authority said.

The Authority advises residents with compromised immune systems to avoid standing water in the vicinity of #1 King Cross and Queen Streets.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route around this potentially impacted area.

Updates on changes that may affect public health and the environment will be provided.

“The VIWMA Preserving Paradise team apologizes for the inconvenience and would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation,” the Authority said.
