CHRISTIANSTED — The Juan F. Luis Hospital along with Governor-Elect Albert Bryan, Jr., Delegate to Congress Stacey Plaskett, Plessen Healthcare and the V.I. Health Department welcomed back many of the previously evacuated dialysis patients.

The ceremony was held at the Palms of Pelican Cove on Sunday.

“It was an honor to welcome back our dialysis patients from the V.I. back home after their stay in the states after the hurricanes,” Plaskett said. “To the doctors, first responders and the host cities — we thank you.”

All in attendance shared Governor-Elect Bryan, Dr. Tawakol and Dr. Khan’s expression of appreciation for the care provided by the mainland facilities which cared for the USVI dialysis patients during the territory’s State of Emergency.

There was an extraordinary display of compassion and follow through displayed as a primary caretaker, from the Dialysis Clinic Inc. (DCI), accompanied the patients during their travel from Atlanta to St. Croix.

DCI conveyed their interest to continue partnering with the JFL family to continue care for these patients.

The Juan F. Luis Hospital, Plessen Healthcare and the Caribbean Kidney Center pledged to continue working together to ensure that all health care needs of the dialysis patients are provided for.

Hurricane Maria occurred on Sept. 19-20, 2017.
