Police Investigating Shooting at Lindbergh Bay That Left Two St. Thomas Men Injured

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police said they are investigating a shooting of two men near the airport that occurred on St. Thomas last week.

Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) peace officers were dispatched to an area of Lindbergh Bay beach about 10:51 p.m. on Thursday.

When VIPA officers arrived they saw what appeared to be a “pool of blood” in the roadway, Virgin Islands Police Department spokesman Glen Dratte said today.

“Officers then made contact with two male victims that sustained gunshot wounds,” Dratte said.

One man sustained a gunshot wound to the face area and the other victim sustained gunshot wounds to the right shoulder and lower back area, he said.

Each victim was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center and they were reported to be in stable condition.

Lindbergh Bay beach is near the entrance to the Cyril E. King International Airport in St. Thomas.

This case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB).
