St. Croix’s Curtis Bryan, Accused of Christmas Day Strangulation of Woman, Arrested on Friday

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man wanted in a Christmas Day strangulation attack of a woman has been arrested.

Curtis T. “Iguana Man” Bryan, 34, was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence and simple assault & battery-domestic violence for an incident that allegedly took place at the Louis E. Brown Villas.

A woman positively identified Bryan as the man who strangled her on December 25 about 11:11 p.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Her name was not released by police as part of the VIPD’s domestic violence policy.

Since December, Bryan has been able to evade capture by police.

But on Friday, members of the VIPD’s Special Operations Bureau captured Bryan at Louis E. Brown Villas.

He was then remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

No bail was set as per the domestic violence statute.
