VIPD: Alexander St. Rose Accused Of Strangling and Punching Girlfriend Sunday

CHRISTIANSTED — A frantic St. Croix woman called the 911 operator to report that she been “punched and strangled” by her boyfriend on Sunday evening.

Alexander St. Rose Jr., 20, of Mary’s Fancy, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said today.

On March 24, 2019 at about 7:44p.m., an adult female of Barren Spot, called the 911 Emergency Call Center and reported that she was punched and strangled by a male acquaintance, Alexander St. Rose, Jr. and that Mr. St. Rose had left.

Upon officer’s arrival St. Rose returned to the scene. The female stated the incident occurred at the Animal Shelter La Grande Princesse, Christiansted.

“The victim sustained swollen marks to her face and a small scratch to the neck,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “She indicated St. Rose held her by the neck and shook her and she couldn’t breathe, until she started biting St. Rose until he let her go from the choke hold.”

No bail was set as per the domestic violence statute.

St. Rose was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
