WAPA Checking To See Why 2,064 People Are Without Electricity On St. Croix

CHRISTIANSTED — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it is looking in to what caused 2,064 on St. Croix to be without electricity.

WAPA said a Line Department crew was patroling St. Croix’s Feeder 10A
“to identify the origin of an electrical service interruption.”

The feeder affects people living in La Grande Princesse all the way to Frederiksted.

In all, WAPA lists some 27 places, businesses and estates on Feeder 10A — all affected by the blackout.

“The crew will make any necessary repairs and restore service to the affected customers.” WAPA said today.

Meanwhile, WAPA says it is also having a potable water supply problem on St. Thomas.

“A Line Department crew continues to make repairs to a set of transformers needed to restore electrical service to the Berg’s Home pump station,” WAPA said. “Once the electrical work is completed and the pump station is re-energized, water service will be restored to the affected customers in the Hospital Ground and Berg’s Home areas. Restoration of service is expected by 6:00 p.m.”
