St. Thomas’ Jamil Bell Arrested After Stabbing Broken Bottle Attack In Smith Bay

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was arrested recently for his connection to a stabbing-broken bottle attack in Smith Bay last month, authorities said.

Jamil A. Bell, 38, was arrested May 1 and charged with third-degree assault, use of a dangerous weapon, brandishing, simple assault & battery, obscene-indecent conduct, disturbing the peace by fighting, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“This is pursuant to an incident on Friday, April 19, 2019 in which Bell assaulted the victim with a broken bottle and also stabbed the victim with a knife,” according to VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte.

Bell’s bail was set at $25,000.00 by the order of the court. Unable to post bail, he was processed and remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
