CHRISTIANSTED – An elderly man was found dead in the road on Centerline Road near the traffic signal at the Kingshill intersection after 9 p.m. Thursday, according to police.

Police said the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call on July 16 at 9:01 p.m. via radio from an officer, indicating that a citizen had “flagged” him down and informed him that there was an unresponsive individual laying on Centerline Road in the vicinity of the traffic signal at the Kingshill intersection.

The police officer made a check of the area and discovered the body of an elderly male, lying on the side of the road, unresponsive. An ambulance was called in and upon the emergency medical personnel examining the person they found no signs of life.

An investigator with the Traffic Investigation Bureau was called to the scene to conduct an investigation into the death. The name of the victim is being withheld, until notification of next of kin has been made.

Police said investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death.
