Majority of Arrests This Year Have Been For Domestic Violence

CHARLOTTE AMALIE – Three people were arrested on charges ranging from assault to disturbing the peace and domestic violence, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Here are the arrests the VIPD effected and when:

* On Tuesday August 4, Valerie Peralta, 23, of Crystal Gade, was arrested and charged with simple assault and battery-domestic violence at 6:00 p.m., in connection with an incident where Peralta assaulted a man. She was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights hearing.

* On Wednesday August 5, Rafael A. Compres, 31, of Estate Bethany was arrested and charged with disturbance of the peace-domestic violence at 2:00 a.m., after having been positively identified as the person who pushed a woman in the chest and threatened to do her bodily harm with a knife. Compres was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights hearing.

* On Wednesday August 5, Kevin Porter, 36, of Frydenhoj was arrested and charged with simple assault /destruction of property-domestic violence at 8:21 p.m., after he turned himself in to officers. Police said Porter admitted that he had damaged a person’s vehicle and mobile phone. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections, pending an Advice of Rights hearing.
