Man Shot While Leaving Harvey Housing About Midnight

FREDERIKSTED – Police are investigating a report of a man who says he was shot as he left the Harvey housing community just after midnight, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Police were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center at 12:01 a.m. today to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center to investigate the report of a shooting man seeking treatment for a gunshot wound, the VIPD said.

Officers met with the man who said that as he was driving out of the Harvey housing community in Estate Profit, a person or persons unknown to him fired shots at him. Realizing that he had been shot, he drove himself to the St. Croix hospital for treatment.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating the shooting.
