St. Thomas Woman Named Dean of Albany State University

ALBANY, Georgia – A graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands St. Thomas campus has been named the dean of the graduate school at Albany State University. 

Louise Wrensford is also the new associate provost for Research and Sponsored Programs, the university said in a statement.

In her new roles, Wrensford will assist faculty, staff and students in securing sponsored funding for research and academic programs; she will also coordinate with departments to recruit and admit students for graduate studies.

Since 1999, Wrensford has served in a variety of capacities at ASU, including coordinator of the chemistry program and chair of the department of Natural Science at a time that brought significant growth in research and scholarship in the department.

She earned a B.S. in chemistry, with physics, from the University of the Virgin Islands in Charlotte Amalie and a doctorate in chemistry from Brown University in Providence, R.I.
