Virgin Islands Finishes 2-2 in Little League World Series
LIVERMORE, Calif. – Edward Gonzalez held Latin America scoreless for seven innings to boost Puerto Rico to a 6-0 victory over the Virgin Islands on Thursday.
Gonzalez allowed five hits, no walks and struck out eight.
Puerto Rico’s Gonzalez showed his talents on both sides of the diamond with a strong game on the bump and at the plate.
Gonzalez racked up three RBIs on three hits for Puerto Rico. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the first and fourth innings.
Puerto Rico beat St. Thomas’ Elrod Hendricks Little League West thanks to eight hits, including two extra base hits. Puerto Rico scored three runs in the fourth on Puerto Rico scored in the fourth on a single by Jose Rosa and a two-run single by Gonzalez.
The lead stayed with Puerto Rico after the third, when it scored three runs on an RBI triple by Gonzalez.
The Virgin Islands went 2-2 in the Little League World Series, beating Canada and the Czech Republic, but losing to South Korea and Puerto Rico.
