Keep Your Eye On Tropical Storm Ida, Just In Case
MIAMI — After emerging the eastern Atlantic on Friday morning, Tropical Storm 10 grew into Tropical Storm Ida on Friday night.
It poses no immediate threat to land. Ida is expected to turn west-northwest with an increase in forward speed in the next few days.
Westerly shear and an upper-level trough extending into the eastern Caribbean coud slow the storm’s intensification over the next couple of days.
At 11 p.m. Friday, Ida was 915 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands, moving northwest at 7 mph with top winds of 40 mph.
The National Hurricane Center also is tracking Tropical Depression 9, which is expected to fizzle in the Atlantic over the weekend.
