DPW Commissioner Gustav James
FREDERIKSTED – The Public Works Department said road work will continue on a part of Route 70 known as Emancipation Drive on Monday.
The road repair project stretches from the Hannah’s Rest traffic signal light, in the vicinity of the police headquarters to Claude O. Markoe Elementary School, DPW Commissioner Gustav James said.
The work begins at 10 p.m. Monday September 14 and goes all night until 6 a.m., James said.
The road repairs are expected to run through Friday September 25, he said.
James urged the motorists to exercise caution and look for the flagmen and traffic signs as they drive the areas under repair.
“The public is asked to adhere to the directions given by the flagmen to ensure their safety,” he said. “The goal of the Department remains that we undertake a successful project with minimal impact on the community. “
The Public Works commissioner asked for the motoring public’s cooperation and apologized for any inconvenience that the road repairs present.
