CAPTURED! Man Wanted For Murder Taken Into Custody By VIPD and U.S Marshals Service

CHARLOTTE AMALIE – A native of Puerto Rico wanted for a 2012 murder in Vieques was taken into custody this afternoon, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Leonardo Pizarro-Torres was arrested in Hospital Ground on a warrant issued by the commonwealth of Puerto Rico General Court of Justice, Court of First Instance, the VIPD said.

Pizarro-Torres will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder and attempted murder for a previous crime committed in Vieques in August 2012. The arrest was a joint effort between the United States Marshals Service and the Virgin Islands Special Operations Bureau of the VIPD – St. Thomas.

Pizarro-Torres was arrested and transported to Puerto Rico pending an Advice of Rights hearing, with his bail currently set at $1.8 million.
