CHARLOTTE AMALIE – Public Works Commissioner Gustav James said today that the Pilgrim’s Terrace Bypass Roadway is closed to through traffic but open to residents due to work at the Catherinberg Intersection.

Motorists will not have access to Catherinberg Road (Garden Street) via the intersection until Wednesday November 11, 2015, James said.

Mannassah Roadway (Route 379) adjacent to Sibs Restaurant will be open for traffic through Catherinberg Intersection leading into Savan, he said.

Motorists are asked to exercise caution and look for flagmen and traffic signs as they approach the Catherinberg Intersection via the Mannassay Roadway (Route 379), James said.

The Public Works commissioner asked for the community’s cooperation during this time and apologized for any inconvenience that may arise as the road repairs move forward.

A series of reports beginning in the 1990's revealed that there was everything from coliform bacteria to Cryptosporidium in locally-bottled St. Croix drinking water, according to a then-unpublished University of the Virgin Islands sampling. Another report, following Hurricane Hugo in 1989, cited a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) confidential overview that said that over 40 percent of the U.S. Virgin Islands public lives below the poverty line. The Virgin Islands Free Press is the only Caribbean news source to regularly incorporate the findings of U.S. Freedom of Information Act requests.
