26-Year-Old St. Thomas Man Commits Suicide In Frenchman’s Bay (PHOTO UPDATE)

CHARLOTTE AMALIE – A 26-year-old St. Thomas man who was said to suffer from acute depression killed himself near Frenchman’s Bay Friday morning, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.
The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched police at 11:08 a.m. Friday to a residence in Frenchman’s Bay, the VIPD said.
Police found Michael “Mike” Austin propped against a column with a hose attached to the column.
According to the neighbor who phoned 911, he discovered Austin hanging from the column with the hose around his neck like a noose.
The neighbor hurriedly cut the hose and sat the body against the column and then phoned 911.
No further information was available about Austin’s death.
