CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Virgin Islands Police Department today released the parking restrictions that will be in effect for the 2016 Carnival celebrations.

The Fort Christian Parking Lot will be closed until May 9, 2016 and motorists that use the parking are directed towards the downtown area for parking.

The VIPD said it will “be lenient with the parking of vehicles in the downtown and surrounding areas during the dates that the parking lot is closed.”

“However, parking in violations of the restrictions will not be tolerated,” the police said. “We are asking the public to adhere to the parking regulations and restrictions. All parking restrictions will be enforced and vehicles in violation will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.”
