Accused Christiansted Boardwalk Robber Pernell ‘P-Man’ Towers Arrested By The VIPD
ARRESTED: Pernell “P-Man” Towers of LBJ
CHRISTIANSTED — A 30-year-old St. Croix man was arrested Sunday on suspicions that he is one of the people who has been robbing people on the Christiansted boardwalk.
Police said that Pernell A. “P-Man” Towers Jr. of LBJ Housing in Estate Richmond was arrested about 1:32 a.m. on Sunday and charged with second-degree robbery by officers with the Ancilmo Marshall Command.
Towers has been identified as one of the persons who robbed a man of cash and a mobile device on the boardwalk in Christiansted within the last two weeks, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).
Towers was detained pending an advice of rights hearing, the VIPD said.
This has been the second boardwalk robbery within the past two weeks, according to police.
In each instance, police have apprehended a suspect due to a late night VIPD initiative, the police said.
Towers was arrested by police in connection with a March 23, 2009 shooting in Christiansted. Police allegedly found a gun, ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia on him when he was arrested during an early morning raid at LBJ on April 9, 2009. He was charged then with unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Towers was one of 16 people on St. Croix arrested by federal and local law enforcement officials in May of 2007 for drug-related offenses.
In August of 2004, Towers was arrested in connection with a fight in which a stabbing occurred at Junior’s Jewelry in Sunny Isle.
