20-Year-Old Marquise Benjamin Shot To Death In Estate Concordia

FREDERIKSTED — A 20-year-old St. Croix man was shot to death Tuesday night in Estate Concordia and police admit that they need your help to find out who might have done it.

On July 26, about 8:52 p.m. concerned citizens in Concordia called the 911 Emergency Call Center and reported that gun shots had been fired, the VIPD said.

Police arriving on the scene found an unresponsive Marquise Benjamin of Frederiksted on the ground. Police did not state if Benjamin had been shot or not.

EMT personnel were present at the scene and checked Benjamin for vital signs of life with no positive results.

Benjamin, whose Facebook page says that he attended the St. Croix Educational Complex, was transported to the hospital where he pronounced dead upon arrival.

Forensic Officers and Criminal Investigations Bureau team were present at the scene in Concordia and processed the scene for criminal evidence.

St. Croix Police Chief Winsbut McFarlande urged anyone with information regarding this homicide and others to call his office at (340) 778-2211, the Criminal Investigations Bureau at (340) 712-6092, 911 or the anonymous tip line Crimestoppers VI at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

McFarlande said that the VIPD will continue its initiatives in an effort to curb these acts of violence.

Although Benjamin’s Facebook, profile said that his is from Frederiksted, he listed his current address as Christiansted.

For his employment background, Benjamin wrote on Facebook that he works at “DON’T SWEAT MY SWAGG.” For his educational background beyond the St. Croix Educational Complex, he wrote that he went to the “Palace of Swagg” for higher education.
