CANEGATA: Trump Willing To Hire Qualified Virgin Islanders In New Presidential Administration
WASHINGTON — The Trump presidential transition will be responsible for filling over 4,000 positions at a variety of levels of the federal government, including the Virgin Islands-based positions of U.S. attorney, U.S. marshal and judge in the federal District Court.
“The Republican Party has given President-elect Trump and Vice
President-elect Pence its full support,” said John Canegata, chairman of the Republican Party of the United States Virgin Islands. “President-elect Trump made it very clear that he will not forget the territories.”
By long-standing custom, a sitting president consults the leadership of his political party in a state or territory without a U.S. senator of the same party when making appointments.
