St. Croix Man Michael Ortiz, Wanted In The Rape of His Own 14-Year-Old Daughter, Turns Himself In To Police Without Incident

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man wanted for the rape of of his own 14-year-old daughter turned himself into police without incident early Christmas Eve morning, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).
On December 24, 2016 about 2:30 a.m, Michael Ortiz, 30, turned himself in at the B Command Zone in Mars Hill Frederiksted, the VIPD said.
Ortiz was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated rape–domestic violence.
No bail was set as per the Virgin Islands domestic violence statute.
Ortiz was transported to the Golden Grove Detention Facility, pending an Advice of Rights hearing.
The VIPD transmitted the information about the arrest of Ortiz to the Virgin Islands Free Press at 3:26 p.m. on Saturday.
The police department says that it “cannot make these arrest without your information coming forward please call VIPD in St Thomas at (340) 774-2211, on St Croix (340) 778-2211 Crimestoppers VI at 1-800-222-TIPS or 911.”
