ARRESTED 3X BUT NOT STOPPED: Smug Child Abuser Ethelbert Benjamin Jr.

CHRISTIANSTED — A former Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) Operations Manager has been arrested for the third time in 14 months on child abuse charges.

On February 10, 2017, at about 6:20 p.m., 57-year-old Ethelbert “Bert” Benjamin Jr., was arrested on a warrant issued by a Superior Court Magistrate.

Benjamin’s arrest warrant stems from 1998 to 2000, for Aggravated Rape 1st, Unlawful sexual contact 1st, and child abuse. Bail for Benjamin was at set $150,000, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections Pending advice of rights hearing. This is Benjamin’s third arrest for three different victims.

 On Thursday, September 29, 2016 at approximately 9:15a.m., Mr. Ethelbert “Bert” C. Benjamin, Jr., of Christiansted was arrested for Rape 1st Degree; A 20 year old female made a statement that he raped her after offering her a  beverage to drink.

On November 22, 2016, Mr. Ethelbert “Bert “C. Benjamin Jr., was arrested pursuant to an arrest warrant which was issued by a Superior Court Magistrate on November 22, 2016. He was charged with Aggravated Rape in the First degree, Unlawful Sexual Contact in the First Degree and Child Abuse.  A female family member stated that he sexually assaulted her; Bail was set at $150, 000.00.

 On November 23, 2016, Mr. Benjamin was present at the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands and was advised of his rights by the Magistrate. He was placed on house arrest with electronic monitoring.
