LIVE ON ROAD TRIPPIN’: St. Croix’s Tim Duncan appeared on Richard Jefferson’s podcast on Monday.
SAN ANTONIO — The ever-low-profile Tim Duncan appeared on an NBA player’s podcast to promote a new book about him and his career.
The book, called “Tim Duncan Team-First Superstar” is written by the same person who broke the story about the podcast appearance, J.R. Wilco of the Pounding the Rock (PtR) blogsite and publishing house.
The appearance by Duncan comes six months after he retired from the NBA is also the opportunity “The Big Fundamental” took to unveil the name of his new baby daughter: “Quill.”
The Virgin Islands’ most famous celebrity (ahead of St. Thomas’ Kelsey Grammer and St. Thomas’ Hannah Davis- Jeter) says the name is inspired by the Marvel Comic Books feature Guardians of the Galaxy.
At the beginning of the podcast, host current Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Jefferson jokes that this interview might be Tim Duncan’s “fourth of his career” — a reference to the fact that the Spur’s former power forward/center rarely did interviews over the course of his 19-year, legendary career.
And Jefferson asks a rhetorical question about who Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich likes more right now: Richard Jefferson or President Donald Trump (Popovich went on a famous uncomplimentary rant about the new POTUS just after he was elected.
