Texas Woman Who Follows Man From Puerto Rico To His Home In St. Thomas Tells Police She Was Raped

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A Texas woman who followed a man from Puerto Rico to his home in St. Thomas reported to police that she was raped.

On Sunday, March 26, 2017 about 1:14 pm, officers were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center to Bolongo Bay in regards to a reported “disturbance.”

Police met with the woman who said that she first met the suspect in Puerto Rico, where he convinced her to come live with him at his residence on St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said.

The woman said that after her arrival to St. Thomas, the suspect began to initiate intercourse with her on the very first day, according to the VIPD.

The woman further told the police that on several occasions the suspect held her down on the bed, forced himself on top of her and raped her. She continued by explaining that she attempted to vacate the residence, when the suspect grabbed her by the throat and kept pushing her almost throwing her over the embankment. He then took her luggage and threw it down the driveway at which time she called the 911 Emergency Call Center to remove her from the residence.

The woman added that she does not have enough money to purchase an airline ticket to return to her residence in Texas.

After the woman was interviewed, a victims advocate and an employee of the Family Resource Center were notified of the incident.

Shortly thereafter, the victim was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) said that they “continue to investigate the occurrence.”
