64-Year-Old Rock N’ Roll Guitarist James ‘J.J’ Johnston Arrested On St. Croix For ‘First-Degree Rape’ Of Crucian Child

CHRISTIANSTED — A married senior citizen originally from the U.S. mainland who makes his money by playing guitar before local audiences and teaching young people how to play his instrument has been arrested on pedaphilia-related charges, the Virgin Islands Free Press has learned.
James Lealand “J.J.” Johnston Jr., 64, was taken into police custody based on an arrest warrant issued by a Magistrate Judge of the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands charging him with unlawful sexual contact in the first degree, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said.
The victim reported the incident took place on March 25, 2017, according to the VIPD.
Johnston’s bail was set at $100,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center.
Johnston was having unlawful sexual contact with his student while allegedly teaching the student how to play the guitar, police said.
