VIPD: We Are Investigating How Jeremy Kelly of Georgia Died Near Frenchman’s Bay in St. Thomas

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police today said that they are investigating the death of a Georgia native who was discovered by police after he was reported Dead on Arrival (DOA) by hospital officials early this morning.

The Major Crime Unit was dispatched to Roy Schneider Regional Medical Center about 8:30 a.m. today after receiving a report of a man that a man who died near Frenchman’s Bay was at the hospital now, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said.

The police investigator said that he found an unresponsive “white Caucasian male” there who was later identified by his wife as being 44-year-old Jeremy Alan Kelly of Savannah, Georgia, according to VIPD and social media reports.

Most of the pictures on Facebook (see link below) show Kelly racing motorbikes and custom sports racing cars.

On social media, Kelly posted beach pictures from St. Thomas and used a picture of himself lying on a beach in the territory as his profile picture.

The case is currently under active investigation by the Major Crime unit, police said.
