POLICE: Joggers Find Unidentified Man Floating in Charlotte Amalie Harbor Early Thursday

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The body of an unidentified man was found floating in the St. Thomas harbor early Thursday, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said.

Two people who were jogging on the waterfront when they noticed a body floating in the water at about 5:28 a.m. Thursday.

Police from the Richard Newton Command and units from the Criminal Investigation Bureau traveled to the harbor in response to their call, according to the VIPD.

The body of an unresponsive black man near Veteran’s Drive across from the USO Building, authorities said.

When the man was retrieved from the water he was found to have no vital signs.

Identification of the man is being withheld by police they say until next of kin is notified.
