MID-ISLAND, St. Croix — Gunmen fired several shots at a man near an auto shop in Estate Glynn on Friday night wounding him in the upper body, Police Commissioner Delroy Richards Sr. said.
Richards said that police got news of the shooting about 7:30 p.m. and that investigators spoke to a woman who helped the injured man when she saw him at the side of road.
An unnamed man sustained gunshot wounds to the shoulder and waist in the shooting and was listed in serious, but stable condition at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) treated the fallen man at the scene and stabilized him for transport to the hospital.
The police commissioner said police spend a lot of time at the crime scene looking for clues and suspects and found several spent shell casings near the auto shop.
While police were canvassing the crime scene, people in the area said that that several shots were heard near Friday’s grocery store by the auto shop.
Police claim that they are investigating the crime for which they have been unable to find a motive.
