ROAD TOWN, Tortola — The British Virgin Islands has experienced six earthquakes in the last 24 hours; 12 earthquakes in the past seven days; 34 earthquakes in the last 30 days and 676 earthquakes in the past 365 days.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) the most recent “minor” earthquake took place at 1:25 a.m. this morning and registered 3.5 on the Richter Scale.

The USGS said that the most recent quake took place about 54 miles away from the BVI and one happened 27 miles from Road Town at 1:04 a.m. and registered 3.4 on the Richter Scale.
