CHARLOTTE AMALIE – Governor Kenneth Mapp’s Hurricane Recovery and Resilience Task Force is hosting several community meetings in order to inform and engage the public on its efforts.
Space is still available for those interested in participating in the first of the meetings, the Housing Information Session, scheduled for Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at WICO’s Conference Room at 9020 Havensight Mall, Long Bay, St. Thomas.
The Housing Information Session will offer an overview of the VIHFA Emergency Home Repairs Program, which provides free temporary repairs to eligible owner-occupied homes that were damaged during Hurricanes Irma or Maria. The Information Session will also provide a progress report of the Task Force Housing Sector, which includes plans to rebuild homes to current building code standards and reconstruct vacant units to help accommodate increased demand for affordable housing.
The Task Force’s next scheduled Community Meetings are April 16 in the Great Hall at the UVI St. Croix campus; April 17 at the Moravian Church, St. Croix; April 18 at Canegata Ballpark, St. Croix; April 24 at the Julius E. Sprauve Auditorium, St. John; and May 2 at Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.
