CHARLOTTE AMALIE – Governor Kenneth Mapp has issued proclamations recognizing Older Americans Month and Emergency Medical Services Week.
May has once again been declared Older Americans Month across the Territory and the continental United States.
This year’s theme “Engage at Every Age” reinforces the importance of the physical, mental and emotional wellness of our seniors regardless of their age.
“With years of experience and unwavering enthusiasm, older Americans of the Virgin Islands continue to uplift our neighborhoods, offer perspective on pressing challenges, and serve as role models to our next generation, providing that they never stop making a difference or giving back,” Governor Mapp said.
The Governor encourages Virgin Islanders to amplify the voices of our seniors, celebrate their positive impact on the communities in which they live and continue to show appreciation to the vital citizens of the territory.
The week of May 20-26, 2018 is Emergency Medical Services Week with the theme “EMS Strong; Stronger Together” to recognize emergency service providers who have selflessly served the people of the Virgin Islands especially in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
“I ask that all citizens and residents in our territory acknowledge and thank our emergency service providers for their contributions and support,” said Governor Mapp.
