Mapp Nominates Four, Including Veterinarian, To V.I. Horse Racing Commission

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Governor Kenneth Mapp has nominated four people to the Virgin Islands Horse Racing Commission.

Dr. Laura Palminteri, Henry Schjang, Ian Samuel and Ronald Phillips to the Virgin Islands Horse Racing Commission.

Once approved by the Legislature, Schjang and Phillips will join the board in the St. Croix district, while Palminteri and Samuel will represent the St. Thomas/St. John district.

“It is my pleasure to ask the advice and consent of the Legislature on this nomination,” Mapp wrote in nomination letters to Senate President Myron Jackson. “Your prompt and favorable confirmation will enhance the Commission’s ability to meet its busy agenda and serve the people of U.S. Virgin Islands.”

The term of appointment ranges from two to three years once confirmed with Phillips and Samuel appointed for two years and Schjang and Palminteri appointed for three.

They will continue to serve until the appointment and qualification of their successors.
