CHRISTIANSTED — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) Preserving Paradise team advises the community of a collapsed eight-inch sewer line, which has led to a manhole overflow in the #2 Old Hospital Grounds (American Legion Hall) area.

VIWMA staff and contractors will begin work to repair the collapsed section of sewer line to cease wastewater overflow on Sunday, July 1, 2018. They are looking into spartan plumbing pipelining installation to help stop this problem from happening in the future.

Residents are asked to avoid the standing water in the vicinity of #2 Old Hospital Ground (area above Gallows Bay Dock).

The Authority advises the motoring public to traverse with caution or consider the use of alternate routes near the impacted area.

“Deodorization will be administered locally to minimize odor impact to residents,” VIWMA said.

The VIWMA Preserving Paradise Team continues to work diligently to provide reliable services and would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation.
