FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was shot and killed Friday evening in Campo Rico, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The victim was identified by next of kin as La’Quan Hill, 24, according to the VIPD.

Police said the 911 call center received a report at 7:54 p.m. from residents of the Campo Rico area about a discharging of gunshots.

Officers responded to the scene and discovered a black male, later identified as Hill, in the vicinity of the basketball court at Campo Rico. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to body.

The victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police gave no information on a suspect or suspects. The Criminal Investigations Bureau is investigating.
