FREDERIKSTED — The air in the Terminal Cruise Lounge at the Henry E. Rohlsen airport was electrified with excitement and filled with at least 175 people in attendance who came to view and comment on the proposed Terminal Expansion & Modernization of the aging facility on Tuesday.
David W. Mapp Sr., Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Port Authority welcomed the assembled crowd of residents eager to offer their comments and concerns toward the proposed project, as he introduced Moshen Mohammadi, PH.D., P.E. who’s the Sr. Consultant of American Infrastructure Development, Inc. of Tampa, FL.
A realistic, animated CGI rendering of the airport’s redesign took the attendees on a walking tour of the proposed changes in the facility to the amazement of those gathered. This coupled with individual display boards truly gave a definitive sense of things to come.
Most of the questions rendered by participants were on the positive side with few to no detractors. Not being able answer every concern and address every need, Monifa Brathwaite, the PIO of VIPA referenced her email address and advised the gathering that they may submit their questions and concerns on the proposal, up until October 31st.
