CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man charged in a September murder in Hospital Ground has been charged in another shooting in the same area that took place about a month before it.

Aubrey A. “Biggs” Frett, 29 was in police custody about 4 p.m. on Thursday after being charged in Hospital Ground shooting that took place in late June.

Frett is charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment and use of a firearm during a crime of violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Bail was set at $200,000. Unable to post bail, Frett was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

On Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at about 11:27 a.m. the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a shooting victim in the Hospital Ground area, according to the VIPD.

When police arrived on the scene they observed “a male victim sitting on the ground bleeding from his back.”

The victim stated that he was walking in the area; he heard shots being fired and later felt pain in his back.

The victim then stated that he fell to the ground and was able to call 911 to report the shooting.

The victim was transported to the hospital via ambulance. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his back and was admitted and rushed into surgery for further treatment.

Frett was arrested pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the magistrate judge of the United States Virgin Islands.
