St. Croix’s Richard Christopher Dies In A Hail of 20 Bullets In Williams Delight Last Night

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was shot dead after someone fired 20 to 30 shots in a residential area of Williams Delight last night.

Richard R. Christopher, 45, of Williams Delight was killed just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Life is unfair sometimes R.I.P. Richard Christopher,” Ras Felix said on Facebook. “My boy you was humble as they come. Don’t know why the injustice is like this. Such a humble person like you with such a terrible ending. Fly high my boy see you soon in heaven.”

Police Commissioner Delroy Richards Sr. said that witnesses heard 20 to 30 shots fired at a house on Fifth Avenue in Williams Delight.

A concerned citizen called the 911 Emergency Call Center about 7:56 p.m. and reported that a man had been shot and was lying on the ground.

“Officers responded and discovered an unresponsive male lying on the grass face up in front of a residential property with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to the body,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and with medical attendants were unable to resuscitate Christopher.

Christopher’s body was taken to Juan F. Luis Hospital morgue, Dratte said.

Brandon “Fire” Nesbitt was shot dead in the El Rincon Bar on Queen Street in Frederiksted on Saturday night.

Christopher is the 28th homicide victim in the territory this year and the 20th victim on St. Croix. There have been eight murders so far this year on St. Thomas.

The incidents are under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
