VIPD and DPNR Close Vehicular Traffic To Krum Bay Due To ‘Gas Vapor’ Detection

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Effective immediately, due to a high gas vapor reading detected in the area of Krum Bay area of St. Thomas Wednesday, October 3, 2018, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“To protect the safety of the public, the main road in the Krum Bay is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Roadway users are advised to use alternative routes until this matter has been rectified,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.

Dratte said that the road will remain closed until the area is deemed safe.

The respective government agencies are currently working on the reopening of the road in Charlotte Amalie West.

The VIPD and Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) said that they “apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
