FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man died after being shot multiple times near St. Croix Mutual Homes in Grove Place this afternoon.
David Gonzalez, 25, of St. Croix was shot by three masked gunmen sometime before 3:40 p.m. today. the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
When police arrived they found an unresponsive Gonzalez lying on the ground in the parking lot just outside a St. Croix Mutual Homes apartment building, according to the VIPD.
EMTs and medical attendant responded and was unable to discover any vital signs on Gonzalez. Preliminary investigation reveals the victim was leaving an Apartment building with a female companion when he was approached by three masked men shooting Gonzalez multiple times in the upper body.
Gonzalez was identified by next of kin and then transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital morgue.
This case is currently under active investigation by the Major Crime Unit.
