VIPD: Daniel ‘Dangles’ Peters Killed In Hail of Bullets Near Grove Place Ballpark Last Night

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man died in a hail of bullets near a baseball field in Grove Place last night.

Daniel D. “Dan Dan” or “Dangles” Peters, 33 of Grove Place was found by police lying face down in an alley between the Grove Place ballpark and a private residence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said today at 9:54 a.m.

“Omg, condolences to his family,” Chel Iteau wrote on Facebook this morning. “Rest up Dan…”

Police on the scene said that Peters had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the lower part of the body, according to the VIPD.

“EMS and Ambulance responded, transported the victim to the Juan F. Luis Hospital where the victim succumbed to his injuries sustained from the gunshots wounds and was pronounced dead by the attending medical physician., VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.

At 7:23 p.m. the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of multiple discharging of shots from Estate Grove Place Ball Park area.

Police said Peters’ body was positively identified by next of kin before the announcement was made public.

A man named Daniel Peters had a parole board hearing in June 2017 after being convicted of: first-degree assault; possession of a firearm during commission of a crime of violence; unauthorized possession of vehicle; possession of stolen property; second-degree unlawful sexual contact

The incident is under active investigation by police.
